This spot is more than just a casual eatery; it’s a destination for those seeking authentic local flavors, especially the beloved you tiao—Malaysian fried dough sticks that boast a crisp exterior and a rich, airy interior. Handmade and freshly fried before your eyes, their you tiao stand out with a distinct texture and flavor, setting them apart from similar offerings in neighboring regions.

The charm of Bunga Raya Lian Pang lies not only in its signature fried dough but also in its diverse range of snacks such as the famed popiah—a roll that captures an intricate balance of sweet, savory, and crunchy notes, enriched by a generous amount of fragrant pork lard. This particular dish is a testament to the culinary heritage of Malacca, inviting both locals and tourists into a deeper appreciation of regional tastes. Likewise, the char kuih teow served in the evenings has earned a strong reputation, making an early arrival at the shop worthwhile to avoid queues.

Beyond the food, the venue exudes a simple, unpretentious charm characteristic of traditional coffee shops, where the focus is clearly on quality and craftsmanship rather than ornate decor. Regular patrons praise Bunga Raya Lian Pang for consistency and unique offerings, highlighting specialties like the “butterfly” dough and red bean variants that bring nostalgic comfort while celebrating local ingredients. Came early when shop is opening and managed to be first in line. The popiah is surprisingly good. It’s sweet, savoury, crunchy and full with pork lard aroma. Pork lard is unusually large in size and broken up in smaller piece before wrapping it up. A must try when you are visiting Malacca!

This is probably the best fried dough stall I've found ever. We first came by one evening a few years ago and it was an amazing find. 10 assorted dough (we picked) for 10 ringgit at that time. We go by to get every time we're nearby. Now it's 1.10 each which is still a great deal. My wife's favourite is the fried glutinous rice dough which is impossible to find back in Singapore. My favourites are the "butterfly" and the red bean dough. Perfectly fried with the right taste. The you tiau is good but we prefer the other types. It's handmade and formed and cooked in front of you. Writing this makes me want to go for a walk to grab another round.

I only tried the You Tiao as I want to save my tummy space for dinner. Didn't had high expectation as I thought this was just some road side hawker. It taste so crispy and flavorful! Quite different from those in Singapore. Needless to say this place is now in my Melaka "Must Eat" shortlist.
